Dem arraign former Unity Bank staff ontop sey she forge documents and defraud customer of N14m



Dem don arraign former banker with Unity Bank PLC, Mrs. Remilekun Ogunwole, before Justice Maryann Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, wey dey Maitama, Abuja for alleged forgery and fraud.





Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), arraign Mrs. Ogunwole on 3-count charge ontop say she forge documents kon defraud one customer to the tune of N14 million.

The first count of the charge state say between the months of March 2014 and August 2014, as a staff of Unity Bank, the suspect allegedly transfer the sum of N14, 450,000 fraudulently from Zamzalim Enterprises account for her own use, thereby she commit offence wey dey  contrary to Section 363 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 364.

For the second count, e state say Mrs. Ogunwole allegedly commit the fraud through the forgery of the letterhead of Zamzalim Enterprises, thereby she commit offence wey dey contrary to Section 366 and punishable under Section 364 of the Penal Code.

The last count alleged say the suspect dishonestly misappropriate sum of N14, 450, 000 wey belong to Zamzalim Enterprises as she convert am to personal use, thereby she commit offence wey dey contrary to Section 308, punishable under Section 309 of the Penal Code.

Initially, the defence counsel, Mr. Lawrence Alabi, don raise preliminary objection, dey ask court make dem dismiss the matter say e dey beyond beyond the Commission jurisdiction but the ICPC counsel, Efanga Imaobong Eyo, argue against am and the presiding judge overruled the objection.

The suspect plead not guilty to the 3-count charge and her counsel make bail application wey ICPC counsel agree to.

The presiding judge grant the accuse bail of N2 million and one surety wey must be person wey dey influential, and dey stay fro Abuja wey also get land property, in addition she go submit her driver’s license and international passport to the court.

The court kon adjourn the case to 22nd of November, 2017 for commencement of hearing.
